A Gainesville man remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday afternoon without bond following his weekend arrest on domestic violence and drug trafficking charges.
Cody James Lark, 37, is accused of assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute Friday and was arrested Sunday by Hall County sheriff’s deputies.
Around 8:30 Friday night, deputies responded to a house in the 4100 block of Old Cornelia Highway after a reported domestic dispute. Deputies said an adult female victim told them she and Lark had been involved in an argument. As she packed her belongings to leave, Lark allegedly grabbed her from behind and choked her by placing his arms around her neck. He also allegedly pulled a necklace from her neck.
Deputies say she had visible injuries on her neck, as well as marks on her face and one arm. The incident occurred in the presence of two children younger than 12.
Lark had left the scene before deputies arrived. Investigators obtained arrest warrants and issued a BOLO for his vehicle.
Just after 9 a.m. Sunday, deputies went to a residence on Reed Drive in Oakwood after receiving information Lark was there. Authorities said Lark attempted to escape through a window but retreated back inside after a deputy spotted him. He later allowed deputies into the residence and was taken into custody.
Afterward, deputies searched the home and reported finding about 40 grams of methamphetamine and two ounces of marijuana.
Lark faces charges of aggravated assault, battery, criminal trespass, two counts of third-degree cruelty to children, trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
