*A measles outbreak linked to a metro Atlanta daycare has grown to ten confirmed cases. The Georgia Department of Public Health confirmed two additional infections tied to the facility. Officials have not identified the daycare or said how many people may have been exposed. The new cases brought Georgia’s statewide total to 16 confirmed measles cases this year.
*The Clayton County Medical Examiner’s Office says the death of an inmate was caused by medical neglect and uninhabitable living conditions. 57-year-old Scott Worthy died last week at the county jail after complications from streptococcus pyogenes sepsis. The medical examiner’s office says Worthy complained to EMS workers that he had not been able to get up, eat, or use the bathroom for four days. Investigators added the jail’s failure to identify and respond to Worthy’s physical deterioration contributed to his fatal infection and death.
*Georgia is one of the most expensive states for maintaining a vehicle, with drivers spending over $7,600 a year on average, according to a study from Insurify and AAA. The average price of regular gasoline in the U.S. has increased by about 13 cents in just two days, and diesel prices have also hit a record high. Local 3 News reports that a separate study found that Georgia is the most expensive state for car insurance, gas, and maintenance costs.
*The owners of a restaurant in Martinez say they will not allow anyone with the strong smell of marijuana to dine inside. Koi Hibachi and Sushi has a sign asking people who smell like weed to stay outside. The owners say they are simply trying to keep the restaurant as family-friendly as possible. Some patrons have mixed feelings about the notice since the restaurant still serves alcohol.
