*An 89-home development was approved for a 30-acre site in Cumming Tuesday night by the Cumming City Council. Located between Sanders Rd and Marketplace Blvd, they will be marketed to couples 55-and-older. The proposal met with stiff opposition from some people in the audience.
*Also Tuesday night a “significant” decrease in the property tax rate was presented to the Cleveland City Council. WRWH reports the proposed rate is 1.9 mills. The current rate is five mills. The decrease is the result of income from the Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST) which allows a portion of local sales tax revenue to be used to offset property taxes.
*For nearly 20 years a tract of land just off Friendship Road in South Hall has been home to a popular family-friendly attraction. But if things go as planned, the current site of the Buford Corn Maze will give way to two warehouses totaling nearly 400,000 square feet. The Buford City Commission has approved the rezoning necessary for the warehouse complex to be built.
