Top-ranked Gainesville looks to wrap up their second straight undefeated regular season on the road at Jackson County Friday. The Red Elephants won the region championship last week with a win over North Forsyth. They will be at home at City Park Stadium/Bobby Gruhn Field next week against the number 4 seed from Region 5. Lanier has clinched the second seed as the Longhorns have finished the regular season with only one loss in region play to Gainesville. North Forsyth (3-2 in the region) will finish the regular season as the third seed. The Raiders can finish the season with a .500 record with a win against Apalachee (0-4). Habersham Central will make the state playoffs as the fourth seed in the region with a win against Shiloh or if the Raiders finish the season in a tie with Jackson County.

The top three seeds are set, but any other team could finish as the fourth seed in this region. The region championship will be decided on Thursday in Covington as Eastside hosts Jefferson. Both teams are undefeated in the region, and the winner wins the regular season region championship. Loganville finished the season as the third seed with their 32-28 win over Flowery Branch last Friday night. Flowery Branch will finish fourth with a win over Heritage in Conyers Friday, but if the Falcons lose there would be a 3-way tie for the fourth seed in the region.

The biggest game on Friday night will feature our broadcast game of the week as North Hall hosts East Forsyth. The Trojans have clinched a state playoff berth and will finish the season as the third seed with a win Friday night, but will finish as the fourth seed with a loss. If the Trojans win they will knock the Broncos from the playoffs and Cherokee Bluff will make the state playoffs as the fourth seed. Undefeated North Oconee has won the region championship and Madison County will be the second seed if the Red Raiders beat East Hall, but everything changes if the Vikings pull off the upset at Madison County. 97.5 GLORY FM-WGTJ RADIO will provide the LIVE play-by-play of North Hall’s first round state playoff game on the road on Saturday, November 11.

Lumpkin County made history last week by clinching their first-ever region championship. The Indians look for an undefeated season Friday night as they travel to Oakwood to play West Hall. Lumpkin County made history last week with their ninth straith win to become the first team in school history to win 9 games. in a season. If White County beats Gilmer, and Wesleyan beats Pickens, the Warriors will finish as the third seed. If White County falls to Gilmer, the Bobcats finish third, and there will be a 3-way tie for the fourth seed in the region.

Three Forsyth County teams will advance to the state playoffs on November 10 as two of the teams have a chance to win the regular season region championship Friday night. Lambert (3-1 in region play) will travel to Milton (4-0). If the Longhorns win, they could finish in a 3-way tie for the top seed with West Forsyth, if the Wolverines beat South Forsyth Friday night.

OTHER REGIONS
Buford will finish the regular season as the second in Region 8-AAAAAAA. Mill Creek is the top seed in that region.
In Region 8-AA, Union County plays at Fellowship Christian and the winner is the region champion.
Commerce has won the Region 8-A Division I championship after their thrilling 23-17 overtime win over Rabun County last Friday. The Tigers finished the regular season 9-1 overall and will be at home in the first round of the state playoffs.
In non-region action Friday, the team that made the biggest turnaround has been Johnson. The Knights can finish the season 5-5 with a win over Midtown in Atlanta Friday. The Knights had lost 33 straight games before they won their first game of the season on September 1. The Knights have won 3 of their last 4 games.
GIAA
Lakeview Academy has a chance to make the state playoffs with a win over Loganville Christian at home Friday. If the Lions win, they will finish the regular season at 5-5.
