*Things are looking good so far this summer for Georgia’s peach crop. Tyler Wainwright with Lane Southern Orchards tells 41NBC the peach crop is overall good this year. Wainwright says peaches this year are also a good size. Recent heavy rain impacted moving peaches from the farm to your table, but they’re trying to stay stocked so you can enjoy fruit. The middle Georgia peach farmer says to pick the perfect peach look for vibrant golden or yellow backgrounds with deep red blushes. And make sure there is no green skin.
*Georgia’s revised Medical Cannabis Law was commemorated Monday in Marietta by Trulieve with its first sale. Trulieve Cannabis Corp. celebrated with a ceremonial first sale at its Marietta location, marking a significant step forward for people like Desi Cleveland from Columbus, an Army veteran who purchased the first products. The new law, “Putting Georgia’s Patients First Act” allows for flower and vaporization products for patients 21 and older, expanding qualifying conditions and removing restrictions. Metro-Atlanta-CEO reports that Trulieve is partnering with independent pharmacies to provide medical cannabis products to qualified patients, with plans to expand distribution this summer.
*Five former Albany police officers were arrested Monday by the GBI and charged with Misuse of License Plate Data and Violation of Oath of Office following an investigation into the misuse of their access to the Flock Safety System. The arrest followed an internal audit of the Flock license plate reader camera system. The audit revealed that the officers used the Flock system several times and used the retained license plate data for non-law enforcement purposes.
