Reaction on social media was quick and abundant to the fatal shooting on Midland Greenway Friday night shortly after a concert and July 4 fireworks had ended. By mid-afternoon Saturday, more than 300 messages referring to it had been posted on the police department’s Facebook page alone.
“Prayers for those involved and for our police officers.”

At last report, Gainesville Police had not announced whether any arrests had been made and the names of the victims had not been released.
