The attorney for Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch said Wednesday night his client intends to continue serving all of Hall County even in the face of a move to recall him that was launched earlier this week.
“Sheriff Couch has deep respect for the democratic process and the right of every citizen to hold their elected officials accountable,” Blake Poole wrote in an emailed statement. “That right is a cornerstone of our great democracy, and he does not take it for granted. At the same time, the Sheriff remains fully confident in the work of his office and in his ability to continue serving as Sheriff of Hall County.
“He is grateful for the strong support of the community he serves, and he hears and respects those who have voiced concerns. Sheriff Couch was elected to serve all of Hall County, and that is exactly what he intends to keep doing, every day, for every resident.”
Couch returned to work a few days ago after serving a 90-day suspension imposed by Gov. Kemp following his arrest in February on DUI and other traffic-related charges.
