Here a bear, there a bear, everywhere a bear!

Bear sightings are popping up a little more often in and around Atlanta these days. And the Hall County Sheriff’s Office added to the number earlier this week.

Deputies spotted a black bear near the side of I-985 in the tree line between mile markers 8 and 9. No word on whether they got close enough to warn the four-legged critter to stay out of the road.

State wildlife officials say more than 4,000 black bears call Georgia “home.” And they’ve put together a list of “dos and dont’s” about encountering bears, including avoiding them and securing such things as garbage, pets, etc.
