Deputies arrested a North Carolina man for aggressive driving early Friday morning following an aggressive driving incident on Ga. 365, a spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said Monday.
“At approximately 4:45 a.m. deputies responded to an aggressive driver call on Ga. 365 near Belton Bridge Road,” Derreck Booth said. “Deputies located the suspect vehicle, a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Silverado towing a trailer, north of Exit 24. They observed the truck in the left lane, and as the driver saw the deputy, he moved into the right lane without ensuring the lane was clear or using a turn signal, nearly hitting two other vehicles.”
Booth said the officers stopped the truck south of Exit 24 and spoke with the driver, Joe Edward Carlo, 52, of Franklin. They also spoke with the caller, a 52-year-old Clarkesville woman.
“According to the initial investigation, Carlo followed the caller’s SUV too closely and flashed his headlights at her, Booth said. “She moved over to allow him to pass, and he did. He then flashed his headlights at another vehicle as he moved in front of the caller’s SUV. When the caller attempted to pass Carlo when it was safe, he began to serpentine within the lane, preventing her and other motorists from passing. He also drove straddling the lane lines for a period. After the caller successfully passed him, Carlo again flashed his headlights at her before ending the aggressive driving when he encountered deputies.”
Carlo was arrested and cited for aggressive driving and improper lane change. He was booked into the Hall County Jail and posted a $1,430 bond and was released later Friday morning.
