The Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia Teen competition ended Saturday in Columbus and while they were not winners, two young ladies from our area – one from South Hall and the other from North Gwinnett – were among the scholarship winners.

The fourth Miss Georgia Teen runner-up, a recipient of a $500 scholarship, is Miss Gwinnett County Teen, Ansleigh Rose of Flowery Branch, who attends Buford High School.

The remaining eleven semi-finalists who each received a $250 scholarship include Miss Historic Gwinnett Teen, Mary Margaret Doop, also 17, who attends Hebron Christian Academy.

The new Miss Georgia is Miss Northwest Georgia, Sophia Wootten, 21, who attends UGA and the 2026 Miss Georgia Teen is Melony Tidmore, 17, of Powder Springs, who attends Liberty University Online Academy.
