A Flowery Branch man remains in the Hall County Jail following his arrest for the sexual molestation and statutory rape of a teenage girl, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
HCSO NARRATIVE:
James Edward Powell, 34, was taken into custody Wednesday at his residence on Tree Park Circle. He faces charges of aggravated child molestation and statutory rape, both felony offenses. His victim is a girl under the age of 16.
On May 29, the victim’s mother contacted law enforcement to report she had found texts of a sexual nature from Powell on her daughter’s phone. Her daughter also told the mother about a sexual encounter that had occurred at Powell’s residence the day before. Powell and the victim had known one another for about six weeks prior to the crime.
Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) obtained arrest warrants for Powell Wednesday.
Powell is currently in jail with no bond.
