One dead, one wounded in shooting; Darragh temporarily stepping aside; Cardiac Care reaccreditation for 4 NGHS hospitals

 *A suspect is in custody following a shooting Tuesday night in Braselton that left a man dead and a woman in critical condition. It happened at a residence in the city. The call came in about 8:00. The GBI is assisting in the investigation. The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released and there’s no word on a possible motive.

*97.5 Glory FM has confirmed that Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh is taking a leave of absence because of an undisclosed medical condition associated with diabetes. Darragh made his intentions known in a letter to Chief Superior Court Judge Jason Deal.  Assistant District Attorney Anna Fowler will be in charge of the office pending his return.

*Four Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) hospitals have earned reaccreditation from the Georgia Department of Public Health as Emergency Cardiac Care Centers. They are NGMC Gainesville, NGMC Braselton, NGMC Barrow and NGMC Lumpkin. NGMC Habersham received accreditation in 2024 and is on a different cycle from the other hospitals and was not up for reaccreditation this year.
