An accident late Saturday night on I-985 near the Hall-Gwinnett County line closed the southbound lanes, resulting in traffic being routed off the Interstate for several hours, according to a Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Traffic Alert.
“Due to a traffic accident on Interstate 985 in Gwinnett County, Hall County Sheriff’s Office Deputies are diverting southbound interstate traffic onto Ga. 347/Friendship Road at Exit 8,” the original message said. “Access to I-985 southbound is blocked at Friendship Road. Expect heavy southbound delays and take alternates.”
The sheriff’s office reported that as of 12:30 this morning the road had been reopened.
There were no details about the crash from either HCSO or Gwinnett County Police but a social media post from one person who said they witnessed the accident said it involved a motorcycle that struck the back of a pickup.
