Hall County sheriff’s deputies arrested two men following a traffic stop north of Gainesville just after 8:00 Tuesday night, the sheriff’s office reported Thursday.
HALL CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (HCSO) NARRATIVE:
“One of the deputies was traveling southbound on Cleveland Highway and observed a Nissan SUV with little to no tread on the tires. When the deputy ran the license status of the vehicle, he learned the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license, so he initiated a traffic stop. The driver stopped his vehicle in the area of Park Hill Drive and South Enota Avenue. Additional deputies arrived at the scene to assist.
Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as Kenny Monroe Williams, 46, of Alto. The front seat passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jose Alberto Beltran, 40, of Gainesville. Deputies informed Williams, who had a Fourth Amendment waiver, they were going to search his vehicle.
During the search, deputies located two baggies containing a white substance and a third baggie with residue (determined to be methamphetamine), a digital scale and a glass smoking pipe. In addition, Beltran had a small amount of meth in the coin pocket of his pants. The total amount of the meth confiscated was one-half ounce (street value around $300).
Beltran was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects. He remains in the Hall County Jail with no bond.
Williams was charged with improper tire conditions, driving on a suspended license and possession of drug-related objects. He paid a bond of $1,430 and was released from jail Wednesday…”.
