UPDATE -GSP: 365 crash caused by truck driver who ran traffic light

GEORGIA STATE PATROL NARRATIVE:

“On 10/25/2023 at 2:15 PM, Troopers were dispatched to a tractor trailer vs Jeep Wrangler traffic crash on SR 365 Northbound at Howard Road.

The investigation revealed that a tanker truck, carrying grain feed, was traveling northbound on SR 365 in the right lane. A black Jeep Wrangler, driven by Hayley Davis, age 28, of Gainesville, GA, was traveling westbound on Howard Road, attempting to cross SR 365.

The driver of the tanker truck, Kevin Phillips, age 49 of Clarkesville, GA, disobeyed a red traffic signal and entered the path of the Jeep Wrangler. The tanker truck struck the front of the Jeep, then began to rotate counterclockwise. The rotation of the tanker truck caused it to over-turn multiple times. While overturning, the tanker separated from the tractor and spilled grain feed on all northbound lanes of SR 365. The tanker came to a rest overturned in the northbound lanes.

Mr. Phillips was entrapped in the tractor and was removed by emergency personnel. Mr. Phillips was transported by Hall County EMS to a local hospital with injuries. There were reports of minor injuries from Ms. Davis and her passenger, however they were not transported.”
