Separate incident leads to arrest in 8-month-old shoplifting case

A dispute at an Oakwood motel led to the arrest of a 63-year-old woman wanted by Oakwood Police for eight months on several charges of shoplifting.

OAKWOOD POLICE NEWS RELEASE:

“On the night of May 1 at approximately 10:30, Officers were dispatched to a dispute in progress at the Jameson Inn.

During the investigation, it was revealed that one of the parties involved had multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

Robin South of Oakwood was that person. She was wanted on five counts of Theft by Shoplifting Under $500 at the Walmart on Mundy Mill Road. The exact amount of the loss was not revealed. Police were able to identify her as the suspect because she did pay for some items at least one of the times – with her own credit card.

As of late Monday afternoon, South was being held on bonds total $3,250 on the five shoplifting charges but without bond on a “hold” that was placed on her for Forsyth County authorities.
