Three people were injured, one seriously, in that accident that closed Candler Road for about two hours last Thursday, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said Monday.
HCSO NARRATIVE:
“According to an investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Accident Investigation Unit (AIU), James Swayne Garrett, 49, of Alto, was traveling westbound on Candler Road near Candler Park Drive when he crossed into the oncoming lane. Garrett’s Ford Mustang struck an oncoming Dodge Ram 1500 head on.
As a result of the crash, Garrett suffered serious injuries. He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for treatment and admitted to the intensive care unit. The driver of the truck, Carolina Renteria Reyes, 45, of Gainesville, and a 20-year-old passenger, suffered minor injuries; both were taken to the hospital for assessment. An infant in the vehicle was not injured.
Charges are pending against Garrett, who was determined to be the at-fault driver.
The collision occurred just after 4:30 p.m. Candler Road was closed to traffic for about an hour and a half.”
