While not a drought buster, much needed rainfall is likely in Georgia through Sunday, according to the latest advisory from the National Weather Service (NWS).
While the greatest chances of soaking rains are across central and south Georgia, our area will likely see some rain, however amounts may be limited, with an 11%chance of an inch or more in the Gainesville area. Compare that to 59% in Macon and 56% in Columbus with the chances increasing the farther south you go.
“Rainfall likely begins late Friday morning in central GA and slowly spreads northward through Friday night,” the Friday morning advisory says, with showers beginning in the Gainesville area about midnight.
