Declaring “political violence must END!” 9th Dist. Congressman Andrew Clyde wasted no time Saturday night reacting to the gunshots that brought an abrupt end to the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner a few hours earlier.
“Please join me in praying for President Trump and all those at the White House Correspondents Dinner. May God bless our brave men and women in uniform. Political violence must END!” the Jackson County Republican, whose district includes part of Hall County, posted on X.
Hall County’s other congressional representative, 7th District Republican Rich McCormick, also on X, decrying what happened.
“There is no place for political violence in the United States,” McCormick posted. “Praying for everyone at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight and thankful for the rapid response by law enforcement and the Secret Service.”
And the Hall County Republican Party weighed in with this Facebook post:
“Our thoughts and prayers are with our country tonight, and with President Trump, his Cabinet, and all those in attendance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. We’re grateful for the swift and decisive response of the U.S. Secret Service, along with the law enforcement officers and first responders, who acted quickly to neutralize the threat and restore order.”
