*Putnam County Planning and Zoning leaders have decided to delay a decision on a controversial rock quarry project in Eatonton. Developers requested the delay to work with neighbors, but, as 13 WMAZ reports, some residents are stressed at the tabling of a decision, and remain opposed to the project due to environmental and traffic concerns. The company behind the project, Putnam County Stone LLC, plans to reduce the size of the quarry and address environmental and traffic issues, with a new hearing scheduled for July 2.
*A bill under consideration by state lawmakers will make an impact on SNAP recipients. The legislation will allow for more checks on income and shorten eligibility verification times. This comes as the state is forced to take on more administrative costs in the federal program.
*It’s a crowded Republican field for Georgia Governor already, but Businessman Rick Jackson has made in-roads with likely voters. The latest Emerson College Polling/Nexstar Media Survey finds recent candidate Jackson just 3-tenths of a percentage point behind the leader in the poll, the Trump endorsed Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. According to WSAV, 42% of likely Republican voters say that Trump’s endorsement has no impact on how they plan to vote. Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms commands the Democrat field with 35% support. Meanwhile, the same poll shows Sen. Jon Ossoff leading all candidates hoping to succeed him.
