*A familiar face is coming back to serve on the Georgia Public Service Commission. Governor Brian Kemp has appointed Stan Wise to serve the remainder of the term for Tricia Pridemore, who decided to step down effective September 4. Wise served as a commissioner from the mid-90s to 2018. The regular election for Pridemore’s seat is coming up in November.
*Some degrees at public colleges and universities will no longer require four years to earn a degree. That’s because the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents has given a thumbs-up to changing the guidelines that will allow 90 credit-hour degrees for some majors. It’s something that’s being approved in many other states.
*An Augusta neighborhood is on edge after a recent rash of car break-ins. They include actual break-ins plus thieves simply entering unlocked vehicles. Richland County Sheriff’s Colonel Bo Johnson says many thieves are not looking for anything specific, just vulnerable vehicles with items they can steal.
