A nearly $40 million contract has been awarded by the state DOT board for Phase 2 of the Georgia 211 project in Hall Gwinnett and Barrow counties. According to a DOT news release, it is the largest single project among those awarded at a recent board meeting. DOT announced recently that Phase 1 was 80 percent complete. Phase 2 will involve 1.619 miles of widening and reconstruction for additional lanes on beginning at Pinot Noir Drive and extending to Georgia 347. This contract and four other construction projects total approximately $61.8 million and represent 72 percent of the total funds awarded.
Meanwhile, two Hall County resurfacing projects were approved: two-and-a-half miles of work on Winder Highway from 211 to the Jackson County line at a cost of almost one million dollars. Also, six miles of work on Dawsonville Highway from the Chestatee River bridge and extending to Lanier Valley Drive.
Another northeast Georgia project was largest of the resurfacing contracts that were okayed,. Valued at approximately $6.8 million, it involves 15.784 on Georgia 2 beginning at the Towns County line and extending east of Georgia 15 in Rabun County.
