Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Detection K9 Roxy will retire at the end of August after eight-and-a-half years of service.
Roxy, a German Shepherd imported from the Netherlands, has worked alongside Lt. Eugene Kemp since January 2018. The pair has been responsible for courthouse safety in Habersham County and has assisted agencies across Georgia.

Her assignments included high‑profile events such as one of President Trump’s visits to Atlanta, Super Bowl LIII in 2019, this year’s FIFA World Cup, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in 2023, SEC football games, college football playoff games and the Peachtree Road Race.
Roxy is one of 83 explosive detection K9 teams trained by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security to detect 22 types of explosives.
