*Shea Ray, the Director of School Improvements and Student Supports for Gainesville schools, has been named the system’s Assistant Supt. for Teaching and Learning. Ray is a 20-year veteran of the city school system who began her tenure as a classroom teacher. Her new assignment is effective July 1.
*Cleveland Police are reporting an increasing number of reports in which money or other items that had been lost or mislaid in stores around town have been stolen. It’s happening all over town, according to a Facebook post from the department. The post also quotes state law that spells out that taking such items is a crime and that if you find any you should turn them into a store manager or call police.
*During Lanier Technical College’s (LTC) Spring 2025 semester, 13 students were appointed “Tim McDonald Scholars” in honor of the school’s eighth president. School officials say this inaugural group of students was awarded the scholarships based on Grade Point Average (GPA), academic progression, and county of residency. Funding for them is made possible by a grant from the Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation.
