A member of the Hall County state legislative delegation has introduced bill that would make it a crime to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create, without their permission, an obscene image of a person.
Sen. Bo Hatchett’s (R-Cornelia) measure would “establish criminal offenses of virtual peeping; to prohibit the use of a generative artificial intelligence system to generate images of individuals with the knowledge that such generation was without authorization or consent.”
To do so would be punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine. Obscene AI images of minors would come with imprisonment up to 20 years and a $100,000 fine.
The bill has 22 co-sponsors, all Republicans.
