‘Standoff’ subject found asleep after two hours

A two-hour “standoff” with a South Hall man ended early Sunday after he was found asleep inside his home by sheriff’s deputies who had been trying to get him to surrender. Hayden Gregory West, 28, was wanted for assaulting two other people, according to the sheriff’s office.

HCSO NARRATIVE:

“Just before 1 a.m., deputies…responded to a location on Chatuge Drive in Buford after one of the victims called 911 from a neighbor’s home. The investigation at the scene determined West and the victims, a man and a woman, had been involved in a physical fight inside their residence.  The victims had exited the house where the fight occurred, while West remained inside. All three of those involved in the incident live at the residence.

Deputies were able to determine the victims had returned home from a night out at a restaurant and West confronted them. A verbal argument turned physical and both victims suffered scratches to their faces. The woman also sustained an injury to her foot and ankle. West damaged cell phones belonging to both victims in an attempt to prevent 911 calls.

…deputies spent approximately two hours trying to negotiate with West to exit the residence with no success. Deputies were able to enter the home shortly after 3 a.m. They found West asleep in a bed and took him into custody without incident.

West was charged with:

·         Battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA) – two counts

·         Criminal Damage to property in the second degree – two counts

·         911 obstruction

·         Obstruction of an officer

After paying a bond of $10,000, West was released from the Hall County Jail on Monday…”
