Hall County Emergency Management Agency (HCEMA) deactivated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Sunday morning at 8:00. It had been activated late last week because of the looming snowstorm.
In her final winter storm update Sunday morning, county spokeswoman Natalae La Douceur said there were no active roadway “incidents” at that time but that as a result of the storm there had been a total of 43, such as wrecks, stalled vehicles, trees across roads, etc.
No power outages, which were at a bare minimum throughout the duration of the storm, were being reported.
And the work for some county employees is not done.
“Roadways have been brined and stone applied to bridges (and crews will still be) maintaining roadways, treating/clearing as needed,” La Douceur wrote in her report.
And in closing, not associated with her report, Fox 5 Atlanta is reporting unofficial snowfall totals for several cities, including these in our area: Buford 6 inches, Dawsonville 4.5 inches, Flowery Branch 3, Helen 3, Cornelia 7, Clarkesville 6, Braselton 2, Cumming 1, Jefferson 4, Sugar Hill 2, and Gainesville 3 inches. Clayton, in the far northeast corner of the state, checked in with 8 inches. The National Weather Service in the next day or two is expected to release the tally of official amounts.
