A Gainesville man is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond after he allegedly attacked a man in a wheelchair with a knife during a domestic incident. The sheriff’s office says it happened Wednesday afternoon in the 3300 block of Gillsville Highway. A 911 caller said the victim had been “hit in the back of the head with a large knife.”
HALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE NARRATIVE:
“Witnesses…identified the offender as Reed Farris Sims, 38, who lived at a residence on the property.
The investigation…determined Sims had entered a shed on the property, which prompted an argument with the adult male victim, who lives in the shed with his wife. Sims became agitated and struck the victim with the knife while stating he would kill the victim. The victim was not seriously injured because Sims struck the victim with the side of the knife and not the sharp blade.
After the physical altercation, the victim and his wife remained at the shed, while two other witnesses retreated to the residence. Sims fled the scene (but) an HCSO K9 team was able to track him to woods in the area.
As a result of the investigation, Sims was charged with terroristic threats and acts and aggravated assault…”
