Gainesville Public Works crews have begun treating known problem areas on city streets with brine and will continue treating them as long as possible in preparation for accumulations of snow, sleet and ice, city officials announced Friday.
In addition, crews have been pre-running routes to become familiar with areas prone to damage during inclement weather. Other workers are being staged behind the scenes to make certain the city is best positioned and prepared to address incidents as they occur.
City officials strongly urge you to stay off the roads if they become iced-over for your own safety’s sake and the safety of the workers who are treating the streets.
