Gville man facing ‘laundry list’ of charges following traffic stop

A 31-yearold Gainesville man remains in the Hall County Jail on nine charges following his arrest after a chase a week ago involving sheriff’s deputies. Some of the charges facing Trevor Andrew McLeod, 31, of Gainesville, go back to a drug investigation in 2024.

“A Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol deputy observed McLeod traveling on Athens Highway near Monroe Drive around 8:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, 2026,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Williams wrote in an email today. “McLeod was driving a vehicle with an expired tag. The deputy also determined McLeod, the registered owner of the vehicle, had multiple outstanding felony warrants for drug possession and distribution charges.”

As McLeod traveled onto I-985 northbound, the deputy called for backup and followed McLeod as he exited the highway to Jesse Jewell Parkway. He then activated the lights and siren on his patrol vehicle to initiate a traffic stop.

“Instead of stopping his vehicle, McLeod continued on Jesse Jewell, turned onto White Sulphur Road and traveled through the parking lots of several businesses” Williams continued. “McLeod stopped his vehicle only after the second deputy approached the scene. He was taken into custody without incident.”

McLeod faces the following traffic charges: operating a vehicle with an expired tag, no proof of insurance and fleeing or attempting to elude.

“The warrants for the drug charges are tied to a drug investigation from almost two years ago,” Williams said. “In that case, HCSO drug investigators conducted a search warrant on McLeod’s residence in Gainesville the afternoon of Dec. 10, 2024. During the search, investigators seized one (1) gram of fentanyl, 724 grams of marijuana packaged for sale, 60 grams of psilocybin mushroom packaged for sale, six (6) diazepam pills, 1.5 amphetamine pills and a 9mm handgun.”

He was also charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of psilocybin with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV drug, possession of amphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
