GHS stripped of 6-A runner-up title

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) has stripped Gainesville High School (GHS) of its football semi-final win over Rome and its runner-up status in Class 6-A.

The GHSA says the Red Elephants used an ineligible player in that semi-final game, a win which propelled the team into the state championship game, where they lost to Thomas Central.

The ruling which was handed down Monday apparently puts an end to a football season that had its ups and downs for GHS, starting with an on-field brawl in a game with Brunswick and even a court ruling along the way in favor of the Red Elephants.
