*Gainesville Police are investigating a burglary that occurred recently on Creek Mill Lane. The homeowner reports that it occurred on Dec. 19. According to a police report a rear glass door had been broken and miscellaneous items worth nearly $3,000 taken from the residence.
*City police have also opened an investigation into a 69-year-old woman’s report that she was the victim of larceny between Dec. 16 and Dec. 22. She reported a loss of $4,000 as a result. Another larceny investigation involves a 22-year-old woman who says her loss amounted to $3,500 and occurred between 3:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and 8:00 a.m. the next day. And a 70-year-old man says he lost $97,000 to swindlers between Nov. 25 and Dec. 23.
*In a rarely seen charge, a 70-year-old man is accused of stealing two shopping carts valued at $400 each from a west Gainesville store. Scott Ray Werner remained in jail at mid-morning Sunday. His bond has been set at $1,300.
*Drug distribution charges have been filed against two motorists arrested in separate traffic stops Saturday. A 65-year-old man is also charged with probation violation and is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond. In the second instance, a 42-year-old man is being held on $5,200 bond. In addition to the drug distribution charge, he’s also charged with possession and use of drug-related objects (2 counts) and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Additional information is not likely to be available until local law enforcement offices reopen Monday following the weekend.
