*Gov. Kemp is scheduled to headline a gathering of state and local officials and others Thursday at the official dedication of the Georgia Ports Authority’s Gainesville Inland Port. The facility opened in May and with a rail connection via Norfolk Southern is a conduit for goods headed to the state’s ports on the Atlantic Coast.
*A new fire chief is beginning work in Winder. Georgia News Network reports Scott McCullers is taking over as chief for Matt Whiting, who retired after working in the city for over 30 years. McCullers most recently served as Division Chief of Operations for Sandy Springs after working in Alpharetta for 30 years.
