A Dahlonega man is free on bond after his arrest on charges that he stole items from his Cumming employer over a three-month period this summer and fall.
FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE (FCSO) NEWS RELEASE (EDITED FOR BREVITY AND CLARITIY):
“Back in October, metal fabricator American BOA filed a report that several tools and other items had been taken from its Cumming facility sometime between August and October. They believed it was an ‘inside job’ because the tools stolen would not have meant anything to an ordinary thief. A quick search of Ebay and there the items were – serial numbers and stickers matched the stolen items.
“Detectives went to work identifying the culprit from his Ebay handle, John Douglas Jackson from Dahlonega -an American BOA employee. Detectives checked his schedule with American BOA and waited for him in the parking lot after his shift and arrested him when he came out.
“Later that day, with search warrant in hand, detectives met with Jackson’s wife, and she showed them where the items that had not been sold were in their house. They, along with other property that clearly belonged to American BOA, were gathered up and taken to the South Precinct for American BOA employees to come pick up. The items were valued at over $5,200.
Jackson has been charged with theft by taking.”
