GHS flag football game stopped due on-field incident; Gville declared the winner

Just weeks after something similar involving the boys’ football team, the Gainesville High flag football game with Carver Columbus Thursday night was declared over following an on-field incident.

After winning their opening round GHSA game over Worth County, Gainesville advanced to the next round by forfeit when their game with Carver Columbus ended with a fight at City Park Stadium-Bobby Gruhn Field Thursday night, sources say. The Lady Elephants advance with a 1-0 forfeit.

The Gainesville High athletics director has not returned a request for comment and a GHSA official has been contacted for any information he can provide. The GHSA playoff bracket does show Gainesville advancing to the next round with a 1-0 forfeit over the Columbus team.
