A Banks County man has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of paint and paint materials from the company he worked for, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
Deputies took the initial report about the theft from a staff member at Cottrell on Candler Road on Monday morning. Employees had noticed paint and other paint-related materials missing from their inventory.
HCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigators began examining the case and obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect, Mark Daniel Conover III, 24, on Wednesday.
According to the initial investigation, Conover, who was employed with the company, stole the material. He then posted the items for sale on social media. Investigators estimate the combined value of the materials at $3,500.

Investigators and deputies arrested Conover at Cottrell on Wednesday afternoon. He is charged with theft by taking. He was booked into the Hall County Jail following his arrest. He posted $5,700 bond and was released on Wednesday evening.
