I was proud to vote in favor of restoring SNAP benefits, military pay, and safe and timely air travel. I look forward to getting back to work with my Republican colleagues on delivering for the American people.”
11:00 P.M. UPDATE WEDNESDAY: President Trump has signed the bill.
ORIGINAL STORY. POSTED 9:20 P.M. WEDNESDAY:
Congressman Andrew Clyde, whose 9th District includes part of Hall County, took to X Wednesday night just minutes after the House vote on the spending plan that effectively ends the government shutdown to again lay the blame for the shutdown at the feet of Democrats in Congress.
“43 days ago, radical Democrats shut down the government,” the Jackson County Republican’s post began. “Throughout their cruel and senseless shutdown, Democrats forced Americans to suffer in order to gain political leverage. Yet their selfish attempt to score political points failed, and their shutdown is finally coming to an end…only 6 Democrats joined us (Republicans) in reopening the government.”
The vote in the House was 222-29 on…the day after the Senate passed the measure.
The shutdown will officially end once President Trump signs the bill.
