FORSYTH CO. SHERIFF’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE:
“On October 3, 2023, at approximately 8:30pm, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Atlanta Highway and Tidwell Road for a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle and that vehicle had fled the area.
The unknown vehicle had struck 70-year-old Joaquin Vega of Alpharetta, who was walking across the roadway. Mr. Vega was in the middle of the road upon impact. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Vega’s nephew was across the street and looked up as the impact occurred. He was able to give investigators very little information on the vehicle. He stated is was a small 4-door car, possibly and SUV that struck his uncle.
