Hall Co. student jailed for making threats at school

A student at Lanier College and Career Academy (LCCA) remained in the Hall County Jail Monday afternoon following his arrest Friday on a felony charge of terroristic threats and acts after he allegedly threatened to “shoot up” the school.

“Just after 1 p.m. Friday, the principal at LCCA alerted the school resource officer (SRO) assigned to the school about threatening reports linked to Cesar Noriega, 18, of Gainesville,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman B.J. Williams said Monday. “Noriega is a student at LCCA.”

According to the investigation, several students had reported Noriega had made verbal threats to shoot up the school. Noriega is also said to have made shooting motions with his hands in the direction of other students as he was discussing the threats.

“School officials searched Noriega’s book bag and his vehicle,” Williams added. “No weapons were located.”

Noriega is being held without bond.
