JEMC endows state 4-H public speaking project

Jackson Electric Membership Corporation (JEMC) has endowed Georgia 4-H’s Public Speaking Project, which is part of the organization’s leadership development program Project Achievement. The $75,000 gift ensures continued support for the program.

“Youth development is central to Jackson EMC’s mission because it strengthens the communities we serve,” said Jackson EMC President and CEO Chip Jakins. “Georgia 4-H helps young people gain skills that open doors for their future at school, careers and community leadership. Supporting this project reflects our commitment to preparing the next generation for success.”

“This project gives students the opportunity to develop essential skills and discover their potential,” said Karen Ewing, Jackson EMC Community Relations Representative, who works closely with 4-H leaders to support youth programming. “The confidence and leadership they build through public speaking will serve them in every stage of life.”

In the 2024-2025 4-H program year, more than 60,000 youth received instruction in Project Achievement statewide. Through local, district and state-level competitions, they hone communication skills and showcase knowledge in over 50 project areas, including STEM and agriculture, health, performing arts and civic engagement.

The $75,000 sponsorship from Jackson EMC over three years will support:

  • Educational resources and awards for Project Achievement participants.
  • Financial assistance for youth advancing to District and State 4‑H Congress.
  • Broader access and encouragement for students interested in public speaking and leadership.
