*Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is set to lose millions of dollars in federal grants. The AJC reports the airport forfeited access to nearly 60-million-dollars. That money is in jeopardy because Atlanta’s airport officials have refused to sign language mandated by President Trump that eliminates any DEI programs. A spokesperson for the mayor says the airport will be able to pursue alternative funding.
*A Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for scamming an Albany church out of disaster relief funding. Andrew Mitchell pleaded guilty to stealing funding by pretending to be an insurance adjuster after Hurricane Michael in 2018. Mitchell has also been ordered to pay more than three-point-nine-million dollars in restitution.
*An armed man was shot and killed at a school in south Georgia. The GBI says the gunman entered S.L. Mason Elementary School in Valdosta Thursday, armed with a gun. But a nearby police officer saw him, confronted him, and shot and killed him. The GBI says the gunman had already shot at several vehicles in the school’s “pickup” line.
