GPD looking for driver involved in fatal hit-and-run

Gainesville Police Wednesday released information they hope will lead to the capture of a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal accident overthe weekend.

Omer Herman Morris, 37, Gainesville, died at North Georgia Medical Center Gainesville after being struck by an SUV Sunday night while walking along the roadway “in the area of Spring Road and McEver Road,” according to a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) news release.

The SUV was “dark-colored and towing a trailer,” police said.

He lives in Gainesville with his wife of 52 years, the former Sandra McKnight of Clio, Alabama, and they have one child, a daughter, Lisa, who lives in Cumming with her family.
