A touch of fall in the air in the early morning hours these days means northeast Georgia’s fall festivals are just around the corner. And the usual assortment – honoring such things as apples, gold, moonshine, chickens and mule camps – is on tap this year.
Ellijay’s Apple Festival is the weekend of Oct. 11, Dahlonega’s Gold Rush Days Oct. 18, Dawsonville’s Moonshine Festival Oct. 24, and Gainesville’s Chicken Festival Oct. 19 and Mule Camp Market Oct. 10.
First out of the gate though will be the Flowery Branch Fall Festival Sept. 21, though the city is having something of a preview this weekend: it’s 20th annual car show and chili cook-off.
