The City of Gainesville has begun taking bids on that planned Athens Street sidewalk project.
It will involve constructing not only sidewalks but a multi-use trail as well, drainage improvements and landscaping from West Ridge Road to the I-985 bridge.
Bids are due Sept. 21. The project was approved at a recent city council meeting.
