Jailhouse incident leads to ‘inciting a riot’ charge

A 42-year-old inmate at the Hall County Jail has been charged with inciting a riot following a midday incident at the jail Wednesday.

“(Daniel Guzman) Paulino’s charge stems from an incident that happened yesterday around lunchtime in one of the jail pods,” sheriff’s office spokeswoman B.J. Willliams said Thursday. “Inmates were instructed to stand in a designated area, and several refused to do so.

According to jail reports. Mr. Paulino was leading the non-compliance, telling jail officers ‘we’ are not going to stand behind the designated line.”

Williams added that within a few minutes, “jail officers maintained control (and) Mr. Paulino was charged with inciting a riot, which is a misdemeanor.”

At the time, Paulino was being held on a driver’s license charge. There is also an immigration “hold” on him.
