The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating an undisclosed number of doctors at Gainesville’s Longstreet Clinic and as a result Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) has put its purchase of Longstreet on hold for now. That’s according to a report in The Times.
The paper late Saturday quoted a NGHS spokesman as saying the health system had been made aware of the investigation but that it was unclear how long it might take and the nature of the investigation.
Plans for the purchase of the medical complex were announced in April. NGHS, Longstreet Clinic merging
The newspaper’s report quoted a Longstreet spokeswoman as saying the clinic itself is not under investigation.
