As the first anniversary of the mass shooting that left two students and two teachers dead and wounded others, the Barrow County School District (BCSD) has announced plans for a special observance.
Sept. 4 will be A Day of Prevailing Love at the school – and any student who is not in school that day will be given an excused absence. But for those who do show up, “we plan to be in-person for students and staff who need support and want to be together. In addition to the opportunities below, students will check in with each class period, but no new content will be delivered,” according to a news release.
“It will be a school day – but not a typical school day. We plan to make it a day of giving back, receiving support, and growing closer with one another.”
