A possible case of mumps has prompted Mt. Vernon Elementary School officials to issue an alert to parents and guardians of students at the school.
“We want to make you aware of a suspected case of the mumps in our school community,” the message reads. “The individual has remained home for the required time, and we are working closely with the Department of Health.”
It goes on to describe the symptoms of the mumps, adding, “please notify the school, keep your student home, and seek immediate medical attention if your student develops symptoms of mumps.”
