Gville woman charged with threatening to kill family, sheriff’s deputies

HCSO NARRATIVE:

:Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) investigators have charged a 17-year-old with several offenses for threatening to murder an entire family and three HCSO deputies early last week.

Investigators arrested Carina Nevaeh Martin, 17, of Dahlonega, on Friday morning, Aug. 15, at HCSO Headquarters. Martin is charged with eight counts of terroristic threats and acts.

Deputies responded to the initial call about the threats early Sunday morning, Aug. 10, at a house in the 6000 block of Eubanks Creek Drive in Clermont. The female caller, 27, was receiving text messages from an individual threatening to murder everyone at the home. In addition to the caller, there were five people at the house, all family members. Martin was among them.

When deputies arrived, they viewed the text messages. The messages indicated the texts were from a man the caller knew. The texts continued with the suspect turning the threats toward deputies at the scene. The messages described deputies’ movements, as though the suspect was watching them.

Deputies had the family shelter inside the home while they attempted to locate the suspect. They searched the property and didn’t find anyone. Deputies then escorted the family to a safe location away from the area.

Deputies spent the next several days looking for the man, believed to be the suspect, while investigators conducted interviews and follow-up work on the case. The case culminated on Friday, when investigators determined that Martin had sent the threatening texts, not the man.

Martin was booked into the Hall County Jail following her arrest. She’s being held on $9,100 bond.”
