A Texas woman has been sentenced to prison for scamming a Buford couple out of $49,000. It happened last year in a banking scheme.
Audrey Townsend pleaded guilty to theft and elder abuse, receiving a 20-year sentence with five years to serve in prison.
The scam involved a text message posing as Chase Bank, leading to unauthorized transfers to Townsends’ account.
